On July 17, 2026, Lawyer Arm Supasit Siri, Managing Director of Wongsakorn Law Firm, presented a certificate to Ms. Natnicha Pruittipongkul, also known as Mavy, a student from the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University, upon the completion of her legal internship at the firm. Throughout her internship, Mavy had the opportunity to closely observe and learn about the work of lawyers, both in the office and through actual fieldwork. This experience was entirely different from studying in a classroom. In this column, we share an interview with Mayvie about her experience as an intern at Wongsakorn Law Firm and what it is like to intern at a law firm.

Interview with Mavy, a Legal Intern from the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University

Q: Why did you choose to intern at a law firm?

A: “Legal work is actually very diverse. Many people may aim to work in the public sector, such as interning at a court or at a public prosecutor’s office. However, I wanted to try something different. To understand what happens before a case reaches the court, you need to intern at a law firm. That is how you learn about the procedures at this stage and understand how to proceed correctly when the case goes to court.”

Q: What did you do during your internship?

A: “I had the opportunity to do many different tasks during my internship. I began drafting complaints, writing motions, preparing sets of documents for filing a lawsuit, and drafting statements. I was able to do many things, which helped me realize that there is a great deal of preparation and many documents required before a case can be brought before the court.”

Q: What places did you have the opportunity to visit during your internship here?

A: “I had the opportunity to visit places I had never imagined I would be able to go. The first place I visited was where I paid my respects before the royal remains of the Queen Mother. It was a very meaningful opportunity for me, and I never thought I would have the chance to experience something like that. I also had the opportunity to go on a study visit to Parliament. Parliament is one of the most important institutions in the legal field because it forms the foundation of the lawmaking process. Since Parliament is responsible for enacting laws, we had the opportunity to observe the process at its source. I was also able to attend and observe a parliamentary debate and take a tour of the new Parliament building. I also had the opportunity to visit a police station to file a complaint. A client came to the law firm with a rather unfortunate case, so we accompanied the victim to file a formal complaint with the police. As many people may already know, filing a complaint with the police can be a time-consuming process. Handling a single complaint may take several hours, and in some cases, it can take up to ten hours because the police officers need to conduct an interview and record the statement. However, through my internship, I learned that the process can be made faster and that both the victim and our team can save time by preparing the information in advance, printing the relevant documents, and drafting a preliminary statement. This allows the police to gain an initial understanding of the case and proceed more quickly. I learned that preparing the information beforehand is extremely important. It not only helps speed up the process but also ensures that the details provided are complete.”

Q: What kind of case did you observe at the court?

A: “I went to court to observe the examination of witnesses in a defamation case. The two parties had previously been romantically involved. In this case, the man was the plaintiff who filed a lawsuit against the woman as the defendant. A well-intentioned person sent the man an audio recording of the woman’s conversation while she was being questioned by an investigation committee. This case made me more aware of the importance of communication. The fact that someone was able to send an audio recording made me realize that our conversations may be recorded, or that our voices may easily be altered and used in other ways. Therefore, I have become more careful about how I communicate.”
